Dining Bangla with Andrew.
Sleep in until eight after a disturbed night, make boiled eggs and soldiers and open Norman a tin of dog food after first letting him out into the garden. It is a clear day and after breakfast, I wash, dress and drive to Cherry to collect the other two dogs for our walk on the Westwood. The stiff westerly win is back but as soon as we cross the road into the woods we are sheltered. There are no time pressures on me today so I am minded to take a longer walk, but when we get to Black Mill Dolly plays up and refuses to come back to the lead. It is almost as if she had read my mind and decided to run ahead on the extended walk. I know from bitter experience that I can't let her have her head like this, she ends up running wild across the main road, so Norman, Teddy and I, sit her out until she eventually comes back to the lead. It is quite cold exposed to the wind by the mill and by the time she comes back, after a quarter of an hour, my enthusiasm for a longer walk has evaporated. We walk down the hill back to the car and drive back to Two Riggs for Noon. After dropping Dolly and Teddy off we make our way back to Tickton, I didn't feel like gardening today. Once home I make mozarella toasties, using the last of the roasted peppers as a topping, and a mixed salad to accompany it. I take it into the garden but am quickly driven indoors as the clouds roll in and the cold wind stiffens. At least the wind is good for drying my whites and a load of coloureds is in the machine waiting to follow them. After lunch I take a nap, as I am meeting Andrew for dinner at eight in Town and then going on somewhere for drinks. I wake at four, get the washing in, and then feed Norman before making coffee and doing a puzzle, until its time to take Normy for his walk. We walk as far as the bridge in the dusk and I am delighted to see a swarm of pipistrel bats hunting insects just above our heads, tiny little things, as agile as swallows and navigating by radar. We get back for seven and I have just time to wash and change before setting off for Beverley. The Naseeb, Indian Restaurant is now called, "Dine Bangla", but the owner is the same guy. It is modern, contemporary and the food is excellent, for some reason they don't have a drinks licence, so I have brought four cans of lager. Andrew arrives slightly late and somewhat flustered, he has backed his car into a wall, there is no great damage but it is still a hassle. After dinner, he takes me to the corner house pub, which is packed with the older end of Beverley, most of whom are younger than me but probably have more miles on the clock. We chat until midnight and then make our respective way home. It was nice spending some quality time with Andrew, his job seems to be going well and he is off to Los Angeles next Saturday on a corporate Jolly for a week. I get in around twelve thirty, let Norman out for a pee and then go to bed.
